Returning to the sea with real impact
Fundació Joves Navegants begins a new phase marked by consolidation and openness. After years of work linking the sea with education and social action, the foundation returns with a clear strategic structure and a model designed to amplify its impact.
This return is not just about resuming activity, but about growing it and turning every trip to sea into an opportunity to create change.
From its base in Portocolom, the 2026 season marks the beginning of a phase where experience, science, and social commitment are integrated into a single program.
A model that multiplies impact
Fundació Joves Navegants operates through three areas of action activated on every trip to sea: science and knowledge, bringing observation and understanding of the marine environment closer to people; territory and community, connecting each activity with the local environment and those who inhabit it; and action at sea, using navigation and direct experience as tools for learning and transformation.
What truly defines the model is how social impact is structured. Each activity at sea is not an end in itself, but a means to sustain a social programme that guarantees access to the sea for young people at risk of exclusion.
Democratising access to the sea
Access to the sea is still, in many cases, a privilege. The foundation works to change this by offering outings to young people in situations of social, economic, or personal vulnerability, allowing them to come aboard, learn, share, and discover an environment that also belongs to them.
For many, it is the first time they experience the sea firsthand, and that experience has a lasting impact.
It is about building confidence, opening horizons, and creating new ways of understanding the world. Coming aboard means learning to live together, taking responsibility, and discovering an environment that generates new perspectives. The sea becomes a space of equality, where barriers are broken and opportunities are created.
2026 Expeditions
Experiencing the Mediterranean
The 2026 season begins with an expedition programme designed to offer unique experiences in the Mediterranean, always linked to knowledge and territory.
From the bay of Portocolom, participants explore the sea from different perspectives. Collaboration with MARE introduces underwater photography as a tool to observe and document the seabed. With SharkMed, key species such as sharks are identified, bringing science closer and dismantling misconceptions. Expeditions to Cabrera provide insight into how a protected ecosystem functions in one of the best-preserved enclaves in the Mediterranean.
Together with Cleanwave Foundation and MedGardens, snorkeling activities highlight the restoration of posidonia, connecting directly with one of the sea’s most important habitats. This is complemented by work on marine dumping sites with TrueWorld, focusing on identifying and monitoring seabed waste, tackling a growing problem that often goes unnoticed.
All activities take place aboard the Galaxie and the Stenella, vessels that operate with reduced environmental impact.
Experiences that create impact
The foundation also opens these expeditions to companies, organizations, and individuals seeking a different way to connect with the Mediterranean. These are not conventional outings, but experiences designed to understand the environment and be part of a purpose-driven initiative.
Booking an activity not only offers a different perspective of the sea, but also directly contributes to the foundation’s social program. Each trip funds new opportunities for young people who would otherwise not have access to the sea.
It is a direct, transparent, and measurable model: the experience of some makes possible the experience of others.
Support the project and become a part of change
The growth of Fundació Joves Navegants depends on its ability to expand this model. Booking a trip, collaborating as a company, or supporting the project helps scale its social and environmental impact.
More activity means more access.
More expeditions mean more opportunities.
More participation means a stronger community around the sea.
A shared Mediterranean
The Mediterranean must be experienced to be understood, and understood to be protected. Fundació Joves Navegants proposes a way of engaging with the sea that combines experience, knowledge, and social commitment.
A project that returns with stronger structure, greater reach, and a clear purpose: to open the sea, share it, and turn it into a tool for real transformation.
Those who wish to support Fundació Joves Navegants can do so through collaboration programs or donations at www.jovesnavegants.org. Every contribution helps open the sea to those who have not yet had the opportunity to experience it.
The 2026 season is already underway. The sea is too.
Becoming part of this change is possible.
