It was late April 2025, just before the start of the yachting season. In Palma, preparations for the annual boat show were already underway. Amid the final adjustments along the docks, a new presence quietly took shape. For Merk & Merk Yachting Boutique, this marked the first time operating on the island as an established location.
Only weeks earlier, the company had opened its third base at Motorworld Mallorca. The Palma International Boat Show became its first public setting in this new context. Among crews, brokers, and visitors moving through the harbour, the company’s participation appeared as part of the wider scene. A 36-metre ISA 120 was included in its listing during the event.
For those familiar with the company, this moment was the result of many years of development. Merk & Merk was founded in 2004 on the Croatian coast. At the time, the Adriatic was still emerging as a recognised yachting region. Over the years, the company grew alongside this environment, shaped by close contact with yacht owners, brokers, and professional crews.
As operations expanded, so did its geographical reach. In the summer of 2024, a second location was opened in Germany at Lake Constance. Over time, Merk & Merk expanded beyond yacht brokerage. Today, the company supports clients throughout the different stages of yacht ownership, from the purchase and sale of new and pre-owned yachts to yacht management and service coordination. In the Adriatic, Merk & Merk also acts as an official dealer for Princess Yachts and Sanlorenzo. With three locations in Croatia, Germany, and Spain, and German-speaking teams at each base, Merk & Merk connects different regions of the yachting world.
In Croatia, a dry marina was acquired, combining dry berths with on-site service. It marked a step towards offering year-round support beyond the main season.
The move to Mallorca in 2025 followed a similar pattern. Rather than entering a new market, the company positioned itself within an already familiar network. Mallorca holds a central role in Mediterranean yachting. Routes, charters, and ownership structures regularly intersect on the island.
The location at Motorworld Mallorca opened a new chapter for the company on the island. The combination of automotive, lifestyle, and luxury sectors creates an environment where different industries naturally connect.
For Julian Merk, CEO of Merk & Merk Yachting Boutique, the opening of the Mallorca location represents an important milestone for the company. Regularly present on the island, he remains closely connected to the local yachting community and its international network.
The first appearance in Palma marked an important moment in a development that began more than two decades earlier on the Croatian coast. Today, the three locations in Croatia, Germany, and Spain are connected by a shared network. Mallorca has become an important meeting point where different parts of the yachting world come together.
