ADN Mediterráneo and the Association of Berth Holders of Andratx have joined forces to seek an urgent solution for nearly 100 small recreational boats affected by recent changes at Port d’Andratx.

The issue affects mostly Mallorca residents who, following a change in port management, have lost their status as permanent berth holders and are now being treated as transient users. According to those affected, this has led to dramatic increases in berth fees, with some boat owners facing costs rising from less than €200 per month to around €1,300.

Both associations warn that the increases threaten the future of local, family-oriented boating and could force many residents to give up access to the sea.

The Association of Berth Holders is compiling a register of affected vessels while continuing discussions with the marina, the Andratx Sailing Club and PortsIB. Toni Oliver, president of the association, said a temporary proposal has already been submitted and is awaiting a response.

ADN Mediterráneo president Lorenzo Pons said the case reflects a wider challenge facing social boating in the Balearic Islands. He called on public institutions and PortsIB to explore all available options to preserve the social function of ports and ensure they remain accessible to local communities.
