Rolls-Royce Power Systems confers Supplier Awards

Five award winners out of a total of 2,400 suppliers MIBA Gleitlager honored for the second time Rolls-Royce Power Systems, the parent company of MTU Friedrichshafen, has named five suppliers as its Suppliers of the Year 2014. The award winners all scored highly in the areas of quality, logistics, environmental protection and cooperation. The recent awards in four categories marked the ninth occasion the company has acclaimed the best suppliers from its total of 2,400 worldwide. “Particularly with regard to the current economic situation, stable and honest relationships with our suppliers are very important to us,” says financial director, Marcus A. Wassenberg. MIBA Gleitlager achieved first place in the Finished Parts category for the second time. The company has supplied MTU with plain and thrust bearings for many years. Also second-time award winners are Harz Guss Zorge from Lower Saxony, who were voted best supplier in the Unfinished Parts category. They make cylinder heads, exhaust manifolds and engine subframes. Also winners in this category are the Ukrainian manufacturers Motordetal Konotop, who supply cylinder liners. The supplier award in the Components category went to Paul Keller Metallbearbeitung GmbH, who supply turned parts for L’Orange. As best supplier to MTU Onsite Energy, Rolls-Royce Power Systems AG picked out Maurer Electronic from Uttenweiler in Upper Swabia, who produce grounding and connecting cables, among other things. “For our suppliers, this award is a reference they are proud to present to prospective used clients,” notes sales director, Erik Manning. With a worldwide total of 59,000 different production supply parts delivered every year, suppliers make a substantial contribution to the product quality and, therefore, the competitiveness of Rolls-Royce Power Systems products. The Supplier Awards are a recognition of that contribution.
