Hostal Cuba (formerly Cuba Colonial), is the establishment which has brought the iconic Hostal Cuba building in Palma back to life, and has become one of THE meeting places in Palma.
One of its unique features is its rooftop Sky Bar which offers a fabulous buffet breakfast in an amazing location overlooking the port. The array of food on offer for just 15 euro is fantastic with a huge choice of traditional cooked eggs and bacon, through cold meats, cheeses, pastries, breads, Mallorcan delicacies, yoghurts, cereals and fresh juices. Coupled with its amazing vista over the port and old town, I think this is a great place to start the day !
Equally, the Sky Bar is a great place to take a sundowner when the light over the harbour changes to a softer hue and together with the chill out background music, makes a great place to start your evening. Open until midnight, the Sky Bar has become one of the meeting points in Palma to enjoy a cocktail in great surroundings. After midnight the action moves inside to the nightclub which remains open until 4.00 am at weekends.
The Hostal Cuba was built in 1904 and occupies a magnificent location in the Santa Catalina neighbourhood, right on the corner of Av Argentina and C/ San Magin. This is where the local fishermen used to come to eat, drink and stay many years ago, as well as to buy their contraband cigarettes and tobacco brought from the West Indies.
The building, with its spectacular colonial architecture, instantly became one of the most iconic places in Palma. Now completely renovated, Bar Cuba has reopened as a café, gastro bar, an amazing rooftop Sky Bar , as well as a superb four star hotel with wonderfully decorated and furnished rooms .
The team in the kitchen is run by Tomeu Ramis, whose aim it is to offer varied cuisine which reintroduces some traditional Mediterranean and Spanish recipes. They now offer a Menu del Dia, 3 course lunch for a very reasonable 15 euro.
