Gothenburg, Sweden (June 25, 2015) – While the ninth and final leg to Gothenburg confirmed the podium positions for the Volvo Ocean Race 2014-15 (click here for recap), there remains a bit of business to complete this Saturday to close the chapter on the 12th edition of this 41-year-old event.

The rules of the Volvo Ocean Race set out that any ties in the overall standings would be settled by the team with the better score in the In-Port Series. While this segment of the spectacle is not the big prize for the seven teams, there are a couple reasons why this final buoy race will be huge.

For starters, Alvimedica and MAPRE are tied for fourth overall in the Volvo Ocean Race, and with Alvimedica only two points ahead in the In-Port Series, these two teams will be in battle.

But the big picture is that there are only five points separating second and sixth place in the In-Port Series. While Abu Dhabi looks secure with a six point lead at the top of the rank, all but Vestas Wind have a play at the podium.

The Inmarsat In-Port Race Gothenburg on June 27 starts at 1100 UTC/0700 EDT.
