For decades, innovation in yachting has often been associated with more power, more speed and increasingly complex technology. Yet around the Mediterranean, another trend is quietly emerging. It is this philosophy that led to the creation of SAMAR Yachts, a new Mallorcan brand whose first model, the SAMAR 50, has been designed specifically for the way the Mediterranean is meant to be enjoyed.

Founded on Mallorca and inspired by the island’s rich maritime heritage, SAMAR takes its name from the local expression “Sa Mar” – “The Sea”. Rather than creating another high-performance dayboat, the team chose to reinterpret the traditional Mediterranean llaut for a new generation. The result is a contemporary yacht that respects local craftsmanship while embracing modern design and alternative propulsion.

At the heart of the project lies a simple idea: technology should enhance time on the water, not dominate it. Solar panels integrated into the roof, electric propulsion and carefully engineered onboard systems work quietly in the background. The technology never tries to take centre stage. Instead, it allows guests to focus on what brought them to the sea in the first place.

Anyone who has spent time cruising around Mallorca knows that some of the most memorable moments are often the quietest. A swim in a secluded cala, lunch at anchor or simply watching the coastline drift by. This is where the Balearic Islands reveal their true character, and where a different approach to boating feels completely at home.

The SAMAR 50 reflects this mindset throughout its design. Spacious social areas, generous outdoor living spaces and a shallow draft make it well suited to exploring hidden coves and spending relaxed days with family and friends. Sustainability has also been approached in a practical way. The yacht combines solar energy, electric propulsion and durable aluminium construction, not as statements in themselves, but as sensible choices that support a quieter, lower-impact experience on the water.

Following its debut earlier this year in Palma, SAMAR Yachts will continue introducing its Mediterranean philosophy to an international audience at the Cannes Yachting Festival this September. Visitors will have the opportunity to discover not only a new yacht, but also a different perspective on modern boating. Perhaps the greatest luxury the Mediterranean still offers is simply the chance to slow down.
