Back, and bigger than ever, the Palma International Boat Show (PIBS) and The Superyacht Village herald the beginning of the 2023 summer season in style. It will take place at Moll Vell in the centre of Palma from 27th-30th April.
“The setting for PIBS is spectacular,” says Arne Ploch Managing Director of the Palma Superyacht Village. “In the heart of Palma, surrounded by amenities, luxury hotels and world-class restaurants in the springtime sun, clients are flying in from all over Europe and further afield. It is a really enjoyable time and a great way to start the summer.”
And clients are not only flying in to enjoy the boat show atmosphere, but they are also coming ready to buy. Arne explains, “Having PIBS in the springtime is a great opportunity for buyers. They can potentially sign a contract right after the show in May and a month later, be out on the water fully enjoying the Mediterranean season aboard their new vessel. That’s a unique and very alluring prospect.”
Arne continues, “What began as a show for local brokers is now attracting brokerage houses from the US, UK, South of France and Italy who want to show their boats and meet with clients in Palma. It has become an important show on an international level.”
Of course, Palma also has the distinction of being the sailing yacht capital of the world. An unrivalled pedigree of not only sailing yachts but also motor yachts from 24-55m+ will be found at the Superyacht Village in-water display – for sale and also for charter. In fact, there are more yachts to charter at the Superyacht Village than ever before as the brokerages respond to the ever-growing client desire to spend their vacation time in Balearic waters.
The yachts are not the only attraction at The Superyacht Village. Food-loving visitors can enjoy the return of the popular ‘Tast Out’ catering, which brings its delicious take on local and international cooking to the 2023 show. It will be offering first-class catering services to exhibitors and boats, as well as a happy hour with fixed price open bar. Another foodie favourite -Fosh Lounge- will be back too, bringing the restaurant’s iconic gastronomy, excellent wines and creative cocktails to the show with its new brand partner, Bentley Barcelona.
Not only a show for clients, but the professional yachting industry also converges en-mass in Palma to meet, network, collaborate and exchange ideas. Along with the ever-popular re-fit and repair area -this year sponsored by Estrella Galicia-, new for 2023 is the Innovation Corner in collaboration with the entrepreneurial community Yachting Ventures. The Innovation Corner will provide a space for yachting startups to showcase new technologies and promote dialogue between companies and the wider yachting industry.
Arne Ploch commented on the partnership “We are thrilled to announce that the Innovation Corner, a new initiative in collaboration with Yachting Ventures and the Palma Superyacht Village, will be featured at the 2023 edition of the Palma Boat Show. As an island, we understand the tremendous contribution of the yachting industry to our economy and acknowledge the significance of remaining innovative. We are eager to meet the selected startups participating in the Innovation Corner and offer them the opportunity to showcase their products and services to the attendees of PIBS this year.”
Also commenting on the partnership, Gabbi Richardson, founder of Yachting Ventures said, “We’re delighted to offer startups the opportunity to showcase their solutions to the industry by participating in the inaugural Innovation Corner at PIBS. There’s always a real buzz at this show and I grew up in Mallorca, so the event is personally one of my favourites in the yachting calendar.”
So whether you are coming to Palma to do a little yacht shopping, to meet with industry colleagues and friends, discover new technologies and innovations, or to sit back, a glass of rosé in hand and soak up the atmosphere of all things nautical, the place to be is the Palma International Boat Show and The Superyacht Village.
The Islander team will be in attendance throughout the show and we look forward to seeing you on the dock!
