The 2022 Optimist World Championship was held June 29-July 6 in Bodrum, Turkey. With the USA winning the Team Race title on July 2-3, 276 sailors from 61 countries sought the fleet racing world title. The 12-race series came down to the final race when Thailand’s Weka Bhanubandh got past the earlier leaders, finishing with a one point victory over James Pine (USA) with Italian Francesco Carrieri seven points off the lead in third.
