Perfectly timed before the start of the yachting season, PIBS and Palma Superyacht Village are ready to showcase the best in yachting at the most crucial time. After a long winter of pandemic related restrictions and escalating international tensions, nautical activities beckon as a welcome relief to get away from it all. The growth of the nautical market witnessed already last season is expected to continue this year, helped along by the return to relative normalcy and freedom of movement in everyday life.
Exhibitors
The companies lining up the dockside in Moll Vell range from the most prestigious international brokerage and charter companies to a myriad of service providers and refit & repair companies. Palma´s reputation as a desirable superyacht hub with excellent services is reflected in its flagship event. The exhibitors are an interesting combination of big and small nautical companies, mixing local flavor with international fame, spiced with media companies and business associations.
For example, Andy Wilcox and Cayetana Perales from Precision Marine, loyal exhibitors who celebrated the 25th anniversary of their business at the show just three years ago, are delighted to be back on the dockside at Palma Superyacht Village, ready to meet customers, colleagues and friends. Andy, a former yacht engineer and now one of the respected captains of industry, has a very clear opinion about exhibiting at the Palma Superyacht Village: “we locals need to be here, showcasing our ability to provide world class service for the international yachting scene”.
Oriol Esteve from Photonautic is a newcomer to the show and sees the event as a perfect opportunity to showcase the company´s work for the industry and public alike. “As a local business with superyacht sailing experience, we know the islands and understand the context and demands of industry” says Oriol.
Ramona from Phoenix One, another newcomer to the event comments: “As a company dedicated to sustainable power solutions onboard superyachts, we feel our place is right here, among our clients and potential new clients showing how they can take steps toward more sustainable yachting and energy saving”.
Tom Rempe from Axopar has plenty of reasons to be exited about the upcoming show. The company will launch various new models in the Axopar and Brabus Marine ranges, and true to their style, the presentations will be nothing short of spectacular. The company is known for their modern, multiple platform presentations, combining exciting locations with live streaming online and replays available on Youtube. As Tom explains it: “Branded as “an adventure company”, Axopar´s choice of venue is a credit to Mallorca – where else can you find the open seas, the secret coves, the winding roads, the spectacular hiking grounds just a short distance away from a buzzing, historical city center? PIBS & Palma Superyacht Village is the perfect context for us to reach out to our audience”.
The Axopar exhibitions are spread between the Palma Superyacht Village and Calanova Marina, with a shuttle service provided for registered Axopar clients and for the media.
Yachts
New launches abound also at PIBS, with a presentation of an electric llaut from Medboat, as well as exciting new models from Arrow Mercedes, Mercanautic, Bavaria and Fjord, to name a few. Stay tuned with the latest news on the PIBS catalogue.
On the superyacht brokerage front, some interesting yachts have joined the previous lineup, starting with the 54 m Baltic Pink Gin VI. Launched in 2017, this high-performance blue water cruising yacht is the largest carbon fiber sloop rigged sailing yacht in the world. Brimming with innovative and unique features, she has been recently relaunched after winter maintenance and class surveys at Baltic Yachts Service and Refit center in Mallorca.
The elegant 40 m J-class replica Rainbow from Holland Yachtbouw is a first in the class to have hybrid propulsion and power system. This eco-conscious, yet luxurious racing yacht with a proven track record is sure to turn heads at the Palma seafront, as will the impressive 40 m Ocean Pure 2 from Concorde Yachts and the 35 metre Solleone from Nautor Swan, both available for charter and open for inspection directly by clients at the Palma show.
Crew, social fun and social responsibility
This year special emphasis is put on crew with a set-up of a dedicated Crew Area in collaboration with Acrew, a network connecting thousands of yachting professionals around the themes of professional training and crewing as a career. The area will provide plenty of opportunities for networking and even getting involved in worthy causes. For example, in the Crew Area two determined yachtsmen will present their entry “Roaring 40´s” to the Talisker Atlantic Rowing Challenge this year.
Just outside the show area, in the famous Can Eduardo restaurant The Superyacht Charities will host a Seafarers´Supper on Friday the 29th of April for the benefit of the local charities Shambhala Foundation and Yachting Gives Back. Make sure to get your ticket on the SYC website.
Also, the fight against plastic continues – the visitors and exhibitors are encouraged to fill their reusable drinking bottles at the Oceanwave filling station at the show.
