STP Shipyard Palma organized a spectacular emergency drill to prepare its employees for any critical situation.

The participants updated their knowledge in these practices and demonstrated dexterity and reaction capacity during the training day.

In order to comply with its rigorous security policy and update the action protocols in the technical area in the event of any incident, an emergency training and a fire drill have been carried out at STP Shipyard Palma in which participated all employees distributed in various work teams.

As is usual in these trainings, in addition to having a theoretical part where knowledge is refreshed, it is in the practices with different instruments when what has been learned is really applied, giving room to correct or improve the techniques.

Thus, STP workers were able to put into practice their knowledge with hoses and fire extinguishers, in addition to practicing with the emergency truck that STP has inside the shipyard, a key tool, because in the event of a real emergency, it manages to act immediately and prevent the fire from spreading while firefighters arrive.

As a complement to the training, a fire drill was carried out between yachts, staging the fire in a container and as an addition, the rescue of a victim between the scaffolding of a vessel.

Along with physical tests during these trainings, organization and logistics are also put into practice in case of emergency, because it is thanks to these two key points that a situation can be controlled or worsened. On this occasion, Carlos Albons, STP production manager, who was in charge of organizing the team during the drill, stated that “it is very important to maintain the level of security requirements in a reference shipyard such as STP, since this security transmits tranquility to our clients. Exiting gracefully from a situation as extreme as a fire implies great teamwork and good organization; it is a difficult task and there is no room for doubt. It is essential to carry out these trainings periodically”.

STP Shipyard Palma will continue to dedicate resources to being one of the safest shipyards in Europe, for this reason it dedicates hours of training so that its personnel are prepared and can act with knowledge and diligence in extreme situations.
