Ibiza JoySail, this new regatta of the international calendar will be held from 14th-17th October and is born with the objective that large yachts will have the opportunity to experience sailing in one of the most magical settings like the triangle between Mallorca, Ibiza and Formentera. The islands and islets that form the Pityusic Islands, such as Espalmador, Es Vedrá and Espardell, will be witness to a regatta that is set to become a benchmark event in the world of superyacht racing competitions.

The interest generated by the new Ibiza JoySail race, among shipowners and sailors, which will take place between 14 to 17 October, promises plenty of powerful emotions, in a location that those who already know it long to return to, and those who have yet to discover it, will fall in love with at first sight.

80 to 120ft yachts will sail through these waters, and there are increasingly more that do not want to miss out on this opportunity to experience a unique and exclusive regatta, set in the surroundings of Marina Ibiza, which will be the meeting point for the entire fleet.

This is a competition that is very different to others, being the only offshore regatta between islands and only regatta in Ibiza for Superyachts, which besides will unite the three islands of the Balearic archipelago.

This initial regatta will be a route between Punta de Cala Figuera (Mallorca) and the island of Tagomago (Ibiza) of 60 nautical miles and will be an attempt to establish the record between the two islands. The other routes will be coastal races of around 15 and 30 miles in the waters of Ibiza and Formentera, using the islands and buoys to configure the final routes depending on the weather conditions.

Mallorca, Ibiza & Formentera, united by a regatta

The islands of Majorca and Ibiza have always been a destination point for regattas, and for this reason the Ibiza JoySail could well become an annual benchmark event where an offshore race is combined with other inshore and offshore races around the length and breadth of the Balearic archipelago.

Among the boats that have confirmed participation in this 1st edition for now are Moat, former Highland Fling 15 (Swan 115), Shamanna (Swan 115), Bliss (Dubois 121), Dark Horse (Swan 80) and Red Sky (Swan 100).

Without question, the best presentation card possible and to which will be added further craft that have shown their interest in, and curiosity for, the Ibiza JoySail, a regatta that is destined to be a headliner event in the southern Mediterranean and which will complement those that already take place in Saint-Tropez on the French Riviera and Porto Cervo on Italy’s Costa Smeralda.

The fleet will be divided into two categories: Performance and Corinthian, and will compete under the ORC SuperYacht system, in line with other boat events of these characteristics.

Ibiza JoySail, sponsored by Ibiza Council, is bound to be a hugely attractive and exclusive event thanks to everything the island has to offer, and a major plus for these magnificent boats and crew.
