Port Denia Shipyard Update – Summer 2020

Hello! First of all we hope this email finds you well and healthy, wherever you are in the world. We have all had our lives severely disrupted over recent months, and thankfully in Spain we are now looking towards a healthier, busy future. Our shipyard was only ever closed for a very short time, with projects continuing to progress, all be it according to strict social distancing and government guidelines.

We are pleased to report that we are now most definitely fully operational, and continue to welcome superyachts both in the shipyard and in the marina. Our latest project is M/Y Insignia (above), a 55m superyacht custom built in 2004 by Elsflether Werft. With a steel hull and Aluminium superstructure, she sleeps up to 12 guests in 7 rooms and carries up to 14 crew. Stay tuned to our social media channels for the latest pics during her time in the yard. Meanwhile, we are also pleased to welcome M/Y Villa Sul Mare (44m) and the luxury catamaran S/Y Midori to our installations (both below)

Heading back from the Caribbean?

Many yachts had their stay in the Caribbean significantly extended this past winter season, as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Now that conditions in Europe are improving, yachts have been making the Atlantic crossing, in order to be in the Med for the summer season, for charter guests and owners alike. Whilst significantly delayed and hindered on all fronts, we are all hoping that the summer season will go ahead at some point soon. Remember, we are located just 45 miles from Ibiza!

If you are heading this way, please consider Denia as an ideal stopover, when sailing back up through the Mediterranean. Whether it be for any ‘between season’ maintenance work in the shipyard or for a summer berth in our superyacht marina, we will be pleased to assist you! Please reply to this email for quick availability and info. We will put some Caribs or Red Stripes on ice for you!

SY Paz – removing the mask

Regular shipyard and marina client 44m S/Y Paz had her mast removed for a general service recently. Always a spectacle, and an important part of her maintenance, our team is well rehearsed in this process.

“From full paint refits and engine overhauls, to electrical and electronic projects, hydraulics, teak work, interior design, rigging maintenance, metalwork and more, we have the facilities and services you need.”

We can carry out work on vessels up to 130m in length, from the comfort of an alongside berth in our “technical marina”, or we can haul out yachts up to 1200 GT (around 65m LOA for a M/Y) at our shipyard facilities across the water. A good example of our work ‘in the water’ was the recent 5 month stay of 105m M/Y Lady Moura who carried out a vast range of work alongside (teak decks, overhaul of main engines and generators, funnel work) in preparation for future voyages following her recent sales listing.

S/Y Rhea & S/Y Chronos – Sisters alongside!

We are pleased to welcome and accommodate sister Superyachts S/Y Rhea and S/Y Chronos (both 54.6m LOA) alongside in our marina. Picture below shows the view from the shipyard offices across the water:

Summer is coming!

And as we head into the (later than planned) summer season, there is no better time for you and your Crew to come and enjoy everything that our beautiful town of Denia and her coastline has to offer! Not to mention, our proximity to the Balearic Islands. Social distancing is the norm, but restaurant terraces are open as everyone readjusts to the new normal.
