Dear All
From the moment we announced that the 2019 Pinmar Golf would be the last we knew the “Grand Finale” would be an extra special and emotional event.
Over the last 31 years, Pinmar has evolved from a local yacht painting company to become part of a global public group, likewise The Pinmar Golf changed and developed from a small local tournament to a much larger international industry event. During this time, we have changed courses and venues a number of times, as well as making adjustments to the format to keep it fresh. However, we were always mindful of the need to preserve the underlying ethos of the event; the collective, the coming together to socialise and do some good for the community in which we all live and work.
In the same way that we needed the support of our partners and industry colleagues to organise the very first event, we were dependent upon the support of our customers, partners and industry colleagues to deliver an event of the size and quality of the Grand Finale, and you did not disappoint!
THE TOURNAMENT
The tournament ran across 17-19 October, thankfully the weather was kind to us and Golf Son Gual was decked in autumnal sunshine throughout the tournament and full of golfers & guests reminiscing about the past and speculating on what is to follow.
The 2019 event had 324 golfers and collectively over 800 attendees across the three day event, who along with our wonderful sponsors and hard-working volunteers raised a magnificent figure of €79,278 for the Pinmar Charity Fund, which pushes the 31-year total to €1,115,758. A truly wonderful event total; the generosity of our guests, industry partners and sponsors is humbling.
The final scores are available here, many congratulations to Sanora for taking home the Pinmar Trophy and also to all the other winners who are listed here.
SPECIAL GUESTS
We were delighted to welcome back golfing legend and our Pinmar Golf Ambassador, Paul Lawrie OBE, who joined us on the course offering practical advice to passing players and those on the driving range and putting green.
Once again, the Friday Night VIP party brought together the luminaries of the superyacht industry and the Saturday Brunch was enlivened by the excitement of the Rugby World Cup matches, introduced by Gabby Logan.
The weekend culminated with the Awlgrip Prize-giving Gala Dinner at Son Amar, which provided the perfect backdrop to celebrate the 31-year history of this much-loved event with a glittering evening of entertainment. With an incredible live show from the Son Amar cast, the wonderful Function Band and plenty of fundraising expertly hosted by Gabby Logan & Edward Rising, it was another memorable evening topped off by 2manyDJs rocking the after party well into the early hours.
FUNDRAISING
The hire of golf buggies and trolleys, along with the course and terrace bars, the lunches in the clubhouse, the water station and the social competitions helped to raise over €20k across the two golfing days. The brilliant volunteers selling raffle tickets over all three days raised a very impressive €17,670. Huge thanks to you all for buying so many tickets and also to everyone who bid so generously in the silent auction (organised as usual by James Marsden of Impulse Decisions) and the live auction (with prizes generously donated by SeaKing Group, Superyacht Supplies, MB92 Group, Voly and Paul Lawrie). Special thanks to Alan Dale of Burgess and the International Yacht Brokers Charity Golfers Association who very kindly donated a total of €2,785 to our fund.
The charitable fundraising from the Pinmar Golf Tournament has been used to great effect supporting a host of worthy Mallorca based and industry related charities. In the past year alone funds have been shared across a wide range of causes both here and abroad, including: Joves Navegants, Fundación Handisports, OK Prosthetics, Tyume Valley Schools, Sail 4 Cancer, Asdica, Serve On and Shambhala Fundación.
We have also introduced an environmental focus to our fundraising activity and will apportion 25 per cent of the 2019 total to projects that are focused on marine conservation.
FUND DISTRIBUTION
It is important to note that every cent raised goes directly to charity through our Pinmar Golf Charity Fund.
MEDIA GALLERY AND AFTERMOVIE
The 2019 media gallery sponsored by CELLweaver is now live on the website and we would like to say a very big thank you to our photographers Vicki McLeod & Oliver Neilson from Phoenix Media Mallorca, and Stuart Pearce from Yacht-Shot for their time, unwavering support and sheer volume and quality of photos. All in all, it was a great finale full of nostalgia and celebration, a truly memorable party to mark the end of an era. So thank you again to all our golfers, guests, organisers and volunteers for your continued support and generosity and to all our Birdie, Eagle, Albatross and Condor sponsors without whom the Pinmar Golf would simply not exist.
A new era…a new event!
We are very excited by the plans for the new Pinmar hospitality event and can confirm we have secured an amazing venue and set the date for the inaugural Pinmar Festival in Mallorca for 15-16 October 2020 so please save the date.
