Giovanni Besenzoni, founder and president of Besenzoni SpA, passed away on Sunday at his home in Sarnico, on Lake Iseo in northern Italy. He was 77.

A forward-thinking and innovative entrepreneur, Giovanni founded Besenzoni SpA in 1967. Today, the company is a global leader in the design and manufacturing of boat parts and accessories.

With more than 100 employees and seven production units in the Sarnico region, Besenzoni has been serving and assisting clients in 90 countries for over 50 years.

“Manufacturing high-quality marine products that technologically advanced with a distinctive design, which can be produced on an industrial scale or tailored for each customer. Permanently supported by overall assistance, anytime and anywhere”. This is the philosophy behind the company that continues today under Giovanni’s children, Giorgio and Fiorella.

Giovanni brought strong innovation to the nautical world. His inventions include everything from the stern platform with ladder introduced in the 1970s, to the hydraulic gangways with remote control 10 years later, to the latest technological helm seats which were winners of several international awards.

“From a small company to a consolidated industrial, the heart of our work at Besenzoni has remained the same: the man and his craftsmanship,” Giovanni liked to say.

A brilliant and generous man, much loved by his collaborators and strongly tied to his territory, Giovanni has always had a keen sensitivity towards the less fortunate and actively helped with charity actions, discreetly, without ever boasting about it.

Giovanni leaves his wife Antonietta and their two daughters, Alessandra and Fiorella, and their son Giorgio, the CEO of Besenzoni.
