Madrid hosted last week the presentation of the new edition of Rally Clásico de Mallorca, which will take place in the island on 7, 8 and 9 March. The event was attended by Toni Dezcallar, Director of the Rally, Borja Queipo de Llano, International Relations of Almira Capital and Álvaro Irala, Director of Puerto Portals.
This year the rally has two special ambassadors to commemorate its fifteenth anniversary: Dani Clos, and Beatriz González Eguiraun. The Expilot of Formula 1 and Automotive Professional and the journalist and motor tester will be in charge of giving the starting signal to the classic jewels in Puerto Portals, they will be present throughout the race, accompanying the pilots on the roads of Mallorca and showing this unique experience.
During the press conference, Toni Dezcallar pointed out that “in the last year we have worked tirelessly to be able to surprise you with the XV edition of the Rally: new section openings, internationally renowned drives and the inclusion of complementary activities that will not leave anyone indifferent. This year, we want to reaffirm ourselves as national and international referents and for that, we have had the best team to make it possible, including Almira Capital as the main sponsor, who have bet for us to bring you the best of the world of the rally to Mallorca”.
Kris Rosenberger, champion of Austria and Georg Berlandy, champion of Germany, will be part of the hundred drivers who will race the roads of Mallorca to get the first place of the competition. Moreover, the pilot Michael Stoschek, owner of the company Brose, will participate with the jewel of the race, the New Stratos 2008, a vehicle that only competes in el Rally Clásico de Mallorca and that is currently in the process of producing a total of 25 exclusive units.
The participants will be divided into two categories, regularity and speed. This year, the Carbonel brothers, runners-up in Spain in regularity, will have to face the defending champions, the Belgians Philip Vlieghe and Filpp Deplancke.
As for the sections that the participants will tour, on the 7th they will start with the Calvià-Coll Des Tords section to end the day with an exclusive Stage Show at the Mallorca Fashion Outlet, where car lovers could see incredible vehicles. The next day, some of the sections to be covered are Capdellá-Galilea, Coll Des Tords-Coll de Sa Creu and the legendary road of Sa Calobra, which is only closed for el Rally Clásico de Mallorca. Finally, on March 9, Estellencs-Andratx, Andratx-Capdellà and Formentor, one of the most impressive of the island will be opened this year exclusively for the rally.
Toni Dezcallar expressed his gratitude to Almira Capital, the main sponsor of the Rally and specialized private equity firm, among others, in investment for the automotive sector. With their support they have been able to add great innovations in the rally and continue with their tradition of presenting relevant personalities of the engine to achieve “overcome year by year”.
On the other hand Alvaro Irala, director of Puerto Portals said that this rally is one of the most important events organized in the port, as it attracts both motor fans and lovers of sailing. He also stressed that Puerto Portals will become during these three days, as a sponsor location, in a meeting point that will allow thousands of fans of the island and Europe to see the most exclusive cars traveling the most fascinating roads in a meeting perfect of sportsmanship, leisure and glamour.
The first edition of this competition took place in 2005, where 45 cars competed; Since then and until today thousands of kilometers have been traveled within the Mallorcan island. In the appointment have participated authentic pieces of art of the motor as the Porsche 910, Ferrari Dayton, Bentley LeMans, Mercedes Gullwings, among other venerable models. This year, motor enthusiasts will be able to see classic and high-end vehicles such as Porsche 993 C2 COUPE, SEAT 124 SPORT, Jaguar E – TYPE V12, Mercedes Benz 450 SLC 5.0 Audi Quattro, Cobra Hawkridge Le Mans, VW Karmann Ghia, Lancia HF Integrate EVO2, Lancia Delta Works Car, among others.
