Atlantic Port of Bordeaux is making a pitch to enter the superyacht refit and winter home port market. At the Monaco Yacht Show, Atlantic Port of Bordeaux, based at Bacalan on the River Garonne in the city centre, gave details of its facilities.
The docks at Bacalan include three dry docks which have dimensions of 240m x 35m (788ft x 115ft); 150m x 22m (493ft x 72ft) and 100m x 17m (328ft x 56ft). The dock area also includes the Bacalan slipway which can accommodate five yachts up to 60m x 12m (197ft x 39ft) simultaneously.
Atlantic Port says that it is ideally located on one of the world’s busiest routes with only a small deviation time to reach the facilities. The port says it offers a complete package at all its sites which include living quarters, mobile warehouse, drydock covers, scaffolding and more. The docks also have space to berth large yachts that might be interested in using Atlantic Port of Bordeaux as a home port facility for wintering.
As a location in its own right, Bordeaux is a world capital of wine and it is also a UNESCO heritage site with more than 350 buildings classified as listed historical monuments. The city is also seen as a centre of gastronomy with many luxury restaurants headed by internationally known chefs.
