Florence became the first major hurricane of the 2018 Atlantic season as it pushes toward Bermuda and the United States. After forming near the Cabo Verde islands, Florence became a hurricane yesterday and strengthened to a Category 3 hurricane this morning with maximum sustained winds of 125 mph.
It’s northwesterly path will become more certain in the next few days but there’s a chance it will be in Bermuda waters on September 11 and somewhere along the USA from the Carolinas to southern New England a day or two later. Details.
Florence has the attention of the 2018 J/22 World Championship which is scheduled for September 11-14 in Annapolis, MD.
