Marina Port De Mallorca Awarded 5 Star Accreditation From IMCI

Marina Port de Mallorca is the Balearic island’s first marina to gain this status.

Marina Port de Mallorca has become the first marina in Mallorca to be awarded ‘5 Star’ certification by IMCI, the International Marine Certification Institute. The standard, which is endorsed by European Parliament, has so far only been awarded to three other marinas in Spain.

The 5 Star rating is international recognition that a marina has achieved a high level across certain performance areas. In Marina Port de Mallorca’s case, this includes the quality of the newly renovated facilities, the professionalism of the staff, the success of new operational measures implemented, and of newly introduced added-value services.

One of the other marinas in Spain with the 5 Star accreditation is Marina Ibiza which, like Marina Port de Mallorca, is operated by the IPM group. The 5 Stars marine award recognises that these marina facilities are able to meet the increasingly high levels of service required by customers, as well as ever-demanding environmental standards and other operating regulations and standards.

Patrick Reynés, manager of Marina Port de Mallorca, says: “To get this award is a well-deserved recognition of the dedication and efficiency and constant work for 18 years of the whole team, which makes Marina Port de Mallorca stay at the highest level of quality, professionalism, safety and environment.”

With the renovation of its facilities, Marina Port de Mallorca has strengthened its position in the ranking of Mediterranean marinas. One of the factors of considerable improvement has been the adaptation of the marina to provide better service to its customers both in mooring and on land. Its facilities are currently more functional and comfortable, as well as having new and modern operating systems such as light and water towers, bathrooms and showers for customers, as well as pumping out of bilge/grey waters and sewage on boats among many others.

In a statement, IPM said one of the reasons why Marina Port de Mallorca secured the award was because of its location. The marina is close to some of the best destinations in which to sail and is also in the heart of Palma de Mallorca, on the promenade, with leisure and entertainment, gastronomy and shopping just one step away.

Safety and the environment also played a role. Marina Port de Mallorca operates to rigid security protocols covering clients, employees and vessels.

On the environmental side, the marina has focused on the saving of resources, the use of anti-pollution products, the reduction of carbon emissions, and the implementation of actions aimed at disclosing and generating client awareness and participation in this aspect. Special activities such as the rescue of turtles or the recycling of plastics are some of the actions that have positioned Marina Port de Mallorca at the top of its sector.

Finally, as part of its value-added services, the marina offers an exclusive concierge service for clients by providing personalised assistance in everything they need during their stay and even before their arrival. This includes car rentals, boat provisioning, the catering for a special dinner, cleaning on board, reservations in restaurants, or nautical services their boat needs.
