NEW 1-Week Yacht Interior Course In Partnership With Exclusive Butler School

We are very excited to announce a new partnership between Viking Maritime Skills Academy and The Exclusive Butler School.

This one-week course will give individuals the practical experience and confidence as well as the expert knowledge to set them apart from others and give them a head start in the industry.

The Exclusive Butler School was founded by John Pettman, Managing Director of Exclusive Household Staff, and himself an ex-Royal Butler who started his career at Buckingham Palace and progressed to The British Embassy in Paris.

John worked alongside two of our Butler Trainers, Mark Moynan and Michael Taylor, who are also ex-Royal Butlers, to produce a programme tailored to creating the ultimate Private House Butler by providing true British Butler Training.

Our Head Butler Trainer, Mark Moynan, is a fully qualified Lecturer and the Exclusive Butler School is currently the only Butler School globally to be certified by a Training College, in our case East Kent College in the UK.

Katy Ellis has joined the team to lead the new training course. Katy brings eight years of private household experience as a Butler and Luxury Property Manager.

Katy started her career in 2010 as a Chalet Manager working for an UHNW family in their luxury mountain lodges in France and Switzerland. Upon leaving the allure of the Alps, Katy assumed the role of Butler and Assistant House Manager for a UHNW Russian businessman, based in an elegant and historic property in Belgravia, London. Katy travelled extensively with this principal, dividing duties between multiple properties including a country estate in Montenegro and on board his two super yachts.

Moving back to London on a more permanent basis, Katy has spent the most recent part of her career in the role of Senior Butler. Based within an exceptionally prestigious Georgian revival mansion, with a full team of over seventy staff and the biggest private house in London, this property runs similar to that of a palace, enabling Katy to apply traditional Butler skills of the highest standard.

Katy joins Exclusive Butler School/MSA as a full-time, permanent Butler Trainer. Katy also works as the back-up Company Butler for Exclusive Household Staff.

The course structure will include the following:

• Elite Housekeeping Standards
• Wardrobe Management and Valeting
• Packing and Unpacking
• Elite Table Service Skills
• Wine Service and Knowledge
• Mixology Masters
• Flower Arranging and Table Decoration
• Organising and Hosting the Special Event

The course will also be run regular each month in conjunction with our STCW maritime safety courses so a full 12 day package is offered to get all the training needed to gain your first job. This includes 4 Part STCW, Powerboat Level II, VHF Radio and DSD Security training. This course is not only for yacht crew but for people wishing to enter jobs in private houses and chalets.
