A great majority of us living on this island rely on our coastline and sea directly or indirectly for our livelihoods. Whether through tourism or yachting a great part of the Balearic income is generated from us being on a beautiful collection of islands in the Mediterranean.

Aside from the commercial value the beaches and sea play a huge part in our social and sporting lives. Winter dog walks on the beach, summers sunbathing, diving and  kite surfing in the bays… it´s an integral part of our life and we all hate it when our days out are spoilt by dirty sea and rubbish strewn beaches. Asociación Ondine are working to improve the condition of our seas and coastline which are so much part of our lives.

As a business owner myself (when not volunteering), I am calling on other business owners and yacht captains to join up and give something back.  Our planet is not sustainable with a take only attitude and it´s our future generations that will pay the price.

Recently The Super Yacht Group on behalf of Doyle Palma conducted a survey in the yachting community . The question : Would sourcing sails from an ecologically friendly company add additional customer satisfaction? The answer was 73% yes. The results are based on the answers from 150 captains, designers and project managers. This is proof of a trending move towards more environmentally aware companies.

AO has a five star rated page on Facebook with 1,629 followers (averaging 20 new followers a week) of which 90% are local.  We also have some 1000 subscribers to our mailing list also of a local majority.  Our growing Instagram and Pinterest posts promote the reduction of single use plastics and highlight our beautiful islands.   The website is getting updated and we profile highly at beach clean ups and local events.  We are working with more and more of the local schools introducing our Schools Program to teach awareness to our future generations.
