April is looking like a very busy month for us and the industry as a whole.
We have our Nautifest event from 20th to 23rd April, The MYBA Charter show in Barcelona runs the 24th to 27th and then the Palma Superyacht Show and Palma Boatshow opens its doors on the 28th April through until the 2nd May. This is then followed immediately by Palma Vela , the first major regatta of the Mediterranean calendar. Phew !!
So, we are very much looking forward the main event of Nautifest, The Crew & Superyacht Services Show on the 20th & 21 st, which is filling up fast. We have sold around 80% of the stands, which we are thrilled about, and anticipate a full house by the time of the show.
We are also very proud and delighted to announce that e3 Systems have come on board to sponsor the Friday night party. This is a BBQ plus live music from the Raggle Taggle Gypsies, plus DJ Diablo V of Radio One fame. So the party is now entitled the “ Nauiti-e3t” Party” !! It is sure to be a great night.
Following on from this show on the Saturday and Sunday we have the very first Palma Boat Jumble , where individuals , yachts or businesses can come along and take a stand for just 75 euro and sell all their unwanted boating/ diving/ fishing/ surfing etc etc gear ! Please email mel@theislander.net if you are interested in taking a stand.
We will also be running a bus that same weekend to the Pollensa wine festival. This is a great day out, as those who made the trip with us last year will testify ! Tickets are just 20 eu per head. The bus will depart from The Boathouse at 11.00 am and leave Pollensa at 18.00 . Again, email mel@theislander.net for further details.
Finally, in my editorial last month, I mentioned about it being the Islander’s 20th birthday, but I failed to mention Carol Rule, the wife of the late John Rule, the magazine’s founder. Carol was a very strong support to John and without her support we probably wouldn’t have the magazine we have today. This omission was very rude of me and I apologise unreservedly.I sincerely hope Carol will accept our invitation to be a guest of honour at our celebrations later this year.
Fair Winds.
