Naan Street Food is a funky eatery located on the northern edge of Santa Catalina, on Calle Caro in Palma de Mallorca.

The high tables and chairs attract groups and couples; it has a very adult vibe with an inviting open kitchen where you can see the chefs busily working away. There’s also a back room which is perfect for larger groups. I like to call this the naughty corner based on my previous experience of it…

Naan’s menu offers a good selection of modern street food items. Once we were seated adjacent to the bar, this time on best behaviour, we were offered some complimentary home made chips with a tasty chutneyesque dip; which went rather well with one of the tasty red wines our server recommended for us whilst we perused the menu. There’s a bit of something for everyone; as is the fashion these days there’s lots of items you can share or if you prefer you can order individual dishes.

They have a “street food basics” section so you could order a steak sandwich, a burger, salmon burger or even a lobster roll, grab a beer and go! We however, chose to soak up the relaxed atmosphere and go for some “street food tapas”. Starting with fish tacos, we were impressed at the presentation. Juicy white fish with delicious slaw, with fragrant cilantro and a squeeze of lime – bit reminiscent of our west coast US trip earlier in the year – just needed some beach bums and a cold beer! Really nice and light, super tasty. We followed that dish up with the veal anticuchos. Basically a deliciously tender pair of skewers with a cracking marinade. Simply presented on some green leaves with fried plantain strips and a gorgeous creamy dip. *Drools*

Next up was another juicy pair (calm yourself), this time of yakitori chicken skewers served again on some lovely spiralized veggies. Noms all around. So we then had a little rest, and drank some more red. As one does. Before gearing up for the picana – a delicious chunk of steak served with a plate more of goodies including corn and lots of grilled veggies.

If, unlike us greedy monsters, you’re in the mood for a lighter bite, perhaps a couple of the tapas and a salad might tickle your fancy. They have some lovely ceviche on the menu plus a kimchee salad. All of which you can order as small serving or go full hog and go large.

We loved the tapas; that was our favourite bit and they’re not enormous portions so you can keep ordering. And ordering. Lots of fresh bright flavours and colours and all reasonably priced too. Very sociable eating.

The service was great from start to finish; we received a warm welcome – definitely worth booking in peak times or you’ll risk being disappointed, Naan is a popular joint full of international clientele and it seems the yachting community have taken a shine to it too!

Sadly we were too stuffed full to try the desserts but I did have a good stare at the next door table when there’s arrived and they looked pretty tasty. Sorry, not sorry.

Overall a lovely informal dining experience with a bit of something for everyone on the menu; another lovely place in buzzing Santa Cat.
