Club De Mar Medical

These are exciting times for Club de Mar Medical!

Firstly, we recently underwent the second MCA audit of 2016: the first highly successful audit, in May 2016 was medical, and concerned the standards and procedures associated with our ENG assessments. The second triumphant audit happened in late October and was a review of our teaching methods, policies and records of our training courses. We are delighted with the very positive feedback received from the MCA auditors and very happy to have re-endorsement to continue training the Elementary First Aid (EFA), Medical First Aid (MFA), Medical Care on Board Ship (MC) and Updated Medical Care on Board Ship (UMC) courses.

Since moving into the new integrated (medical and training) office suite, the practice is thrilled with trainee reports that having both Lucy and Joh on one site and therefore able to interact with the students, means that the quality of the courses has only improved. The proximity of the consulting rooms has also meant that we are now easily able to arrange ENG (and other medicals) to trainees attending the courses. Clearly, that allows our participants to maximise the benefit of their week with us.

This autumn, our courses have been happy, interactive and full – which is a fantastic result!   We extend warm thanks to all our trainees – and wish you all a long (5 year at least) memory! We are very positive for our spring MCA courses and are working internally on other courses, which we believe will be helpful to our clientele.

Our organised up-coming MCA course dates are as below and we look forward to welcoming all new and interested participants:

MC: 05 December 2016

EFA: 16 January 2017

MFA: 16 January 2017

MC: 23 January 2017

EFA: 13 February 2017

MFA: 13 February 2017

MC: 20 February 2017

MC: 13 March 2017

MC: 03 April 2017

However, in line with our very flexible practice, if there is the demand for further courses – just contact us on info@clubdemarmedical.com and we will see what we can arrange.

Secondly, we have launched our new interactive Club de Mar Medical website! We are very proud with the creation and have designed it specifically to support the yachting and local community. Our Practice is “Passionate about Prevention” and this ethos pervades all areas of our service – including travel medicine and vaccinations, contraception and sexual health and almost all aspects of General Practice.

One of the main features of our website is the interactive online booking and calendar facility: now ENG assessments (and other medicals), GP patients and trainees can book online!

Born from a time when Dr Joh was too busy to answer the phone, immediately respond to emails, make appointments as well as give full attention to the patient in front of her, this facility allows patients and trainees to book whatever they want, wherever they are and at any time of the day – to suit their own requirements. This ground breaking interactive facility means that nobody need miss out! Our much valued client base can always make his or her requests known 24 hours per day.

The achievement of the calendar for the practice is down to Dr Joh’s vision for meeting the needs of our population and we are especially thrilled with this option.

However, our website is not yet finalised… we know we need professional photography of our staff and location (which is in the process of being organised) but, we would value any other suggestions, input or requirement needs from you all. Please contact us on info@clubdemarmedical.com

and we will do our level best to make sure we need your needs!

This quarter has also seen Club de Mar join YACHTNEEDS, the great new ap designed for the yachting community. This geo-located, dedicated yacht crew app allows you to chat live with other crew, search out services and suppliers, like Club de Mar Medical, in the prts ahead of you- you can also apply for all the best superyacht jobs in just one click. Use YACHTNEEDS to search out your Club de Mar services, ENG1´s, First Aid Courses, GP, Services and Travel Vaccines as you get close to Palma.

As previously stated, these really are exciting times for the practice, with rapid changes taking place and the metamorphosis of this long-standing Palma Medical Practice. We are moving from strength to strength with the changes we are forging ahead with!

We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their support in 2016, we look forward to working with you all in 2017. As this is the final Islander for 2016 it just remains for us to wish everyone a wonderful Christmas and a very happy and healthy 2017!
