Superyacht Captain debuts worklists app at MYS 2016: ‘Pinpoint Works’

Pinpoint Works introduced its web and mobile apps via live demos at the Monaco Yacht Show, offering a simple solution to a complicated problem.

Pinpoint Works, the SaaS (Software as a Service) that has given a much needed revamp to standard methods of tracking worklists, spent three days giving live demos at the Monaco Boat Show this year. With the Pinpoint Works team set up in La Rascasse with ACREW, they were able to demo to dozens of potential users and industry professionals on the spot. The software was met with a very positive response.

Using web and mobile apps, Pinpoint Works turns your General Arrangement (GA) into a live, interactive worklist through which you can log, share, track, and communicate items. It provides an alternative solution to outdated Excel spreadsheets and back-and-forth emails. Current clients have been using it successfully for new builds, warranty periods, paint surveys, refits and general day-to-day maintenance.

James Stockdale, CEO and Founder of Pinpoint Works, was on site at MYS meeting with clients and giving demos of the software himself. As a superyacht Captain and long-time crew member himself, Stockdale is no stranger to worklists. Recognizing the need for a better system of tracking works on board, he decided to create a solution for crew, management, yards and contractors. After two years in development, the Monaco Yacht Show provided the perfect opportunity to present Pinpoint Works to the industry.

“After years of using confusing, inefficient and frustrating methods of communication, I decided to try my hand at creating a solution to the problem,” said Stockdale. “In talking to other colleagues, I really felt like I was onto something with Pinpoint Works.”

Stockdale understands the importance of good organization and clear communication—points he tried to reiterate at ACREW’s ‘Rock Your Refit’ class during MYS. His aim is to share the benefits of Pinpoint Works with other industry professionals and the Monaco Yacht Show was just the place to start.

“Based on the feedback at MYS we are feeling very positive about Pinpoint Works’ ability to change the way yachting professionals communicate on board.” Stockdale said.

Pinpoint Works is currently being demoed live in the South of France or via Skype. To streamline the organization of your next yard period, make an appointment with James at james@pinpointworks.com or call +44.7980.164.643.
