Trees help prevent water pollution

“Trees reduce runoff by breaking rainfall thus allowing the water to flow down the trunk and into the earth below the tree. This prevents stomwater from carrying pollutants to the oceans and seas.”

GEOHolder was born as a result of a devestating fire in The Serra de Tramuntana  on July 26th, 2013. The fire destroyed more than 2,400 hectares of forest in Serra de Tramuntana, a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

The goal of GEOHolder is to reforest the area with the help of tourists and locals alike. Olive trees, not only supply much needed oxygen to our environment, but as well, provide a natural and generations old way of income for those that make Mallorca their home.

There is a certain mystic that has always surrounded the Olive Tree. While Olive Oil has long been considered sacred, the naked Olive branch was a symbol of abundance, glory and peace, while the leafy branch has been used to crown the head of victors in sports and war. Today, Olive Oil is still used in many religious ceremonies, and the Olive itself is a symbol of peace, wisdom, glory, fertility, power and purity. There is no better way to reforest an entire mountain than with a tree that has such powerful and positive connotations.

There are two ways in which you can help the efforts of reforestation. 

1) Sponsoring a Millennia Olive Tree: By sponsoring, you help to protect an already ancient tree right here on the island. You provide the much needed investment to insure that the tree is maintained, protected, watered and fed. You will have a plaque with your name, made from recycled wood, placed by the tree; Sponsorship certificate, Certification of GEOpositioning, A card with all details of your tree, including, age, variety, and annual average productivity. You will receive our exclusive welcome pack and a personalized bottle of the most amazing and authentic extra virgin olive oil produced from your tree.

2) Planting an Olive Tree: Purchase your own young Olive Tree to be planted, or for you to plant, in a specified area. Your funding will go towards protecting the growth of this new life, and insuring that the tree is maintained, protected, watered and fed, much the same as the Millenium Olive Tree. You will receive a Certification of GEOpositioning with information about the type of Olive Tree planted and a Plantation Certificate.

Plantation activities are available for groups of 20 people and over.
