New 70m ‘Sybaris’ leaves the shed

Perini_Navi_Sybaris_sbPerini Navi has announced that 70m sailing yacht Sybaris, left the shed last week. The yacht features an aluminium hull and superstructure and is waiting for her carbon fibre rig to be fitted. A 62-metre mizzen mast and a main reaching a height of 72 metres will soon be stepped. Together they will host a sailplan of over 3,000sq m. Rondal provided the carbon fibre spars and Carbo-Link rigging for Sybaris, the Italian shipyard said in a statement.

The displacement is optimised at 927 tonnes for her 870gt making Sybaris the second largest Perini Navi sailing vessel ever built.

Her centerboard keel has variable draft that goes from 4.54m to 11.74 m.

Forward on the bow will be two 7-metre carbon fibre Cockwells tenders, one of which is to be a limo, and a 4.5-metre rescue tender.

Perini Navi’s in-house team is responsible for the lines of this new 70m ketch. The staff has worked along with naval architecture consultation and sailplan optimisation by Philippe Briand.
