Following on from last year’s successful event alongside the Palma Superyacht show in Mallorca, Quaynote Communications and YachtMedia have announced further details of their 2nd edition, which will again feature two days of presentations, debate and interactive panel discussions, followed by a golf & networking day at the weekend.

“With the 4th Palma Superyacht Show and the 33rd Boatshow Palma again running concurrently over the five day May holiday weekend and planning for even more expansion, there was never any question about the right time and place to stage these events again,” said Quaynote director Lorna Titley.

The feedback from last year’s conference delegates and participants gave full marks for the content, organisation and choice of venues. This provided excellent business networking opportunities and an engaging selection of relevant topics for superyacht captains, senior crew, yacht managers, brokers and a whole range of yachting industry professionals.

With the conference and golf days only occupying three of the five days that the yacht show is open for, it was also noted that delegates were able to maximise their return on travel time and expenditure by combining their visit productively and attending both events. All delegates registered for the Quaynote conferences received complimentary VIP passes for the yacht show.

On Thursday 28th April, the opening day of the yacht show, the Quaynote conference theme will be The Future for Captains and Crew.  This will cover a host of subjects that are important to today’s superyacht crews including: Crew residency & taxation, career path planning, health / medical care & social security protection, and implementation of STCW standards.

Expert analysis and interactive panel discussions will also look into subjects such as, updated chartering regulations and fiscal implications, crew training for charter operations, and the role of marinas in enabling successful future development of luxury yacht chartering.

On Friday 29th April the conference agenda will focus on The Future of Superyacht Technology.

With recent years seeing renewed growth in the numbers and sizes of superyachts being constructed, and an increased requirement, both from a legislative and moral standpoint on environmental issues, there has never been a time when so many innovative technological developments have been brought to market.

With around 60 superyachts for sale or charter at the Palma Show and 50% of them being sailing yachts, where better to showcase a selection of the latest technology being designed and produced to improve comfort, handling, safety and performance of the modern luxury yacht, and discuss its merits in depth?

The Superyacht Technology agenda will feature technically stimulating subjects such as: Designing for optimum stability, navigational and rig technology for superyacht racing, hybrid propulsion and energy systems, fuel efficiency / exhaust emission controls, bridge design / navigation electronics, data receiving / distribution equipment and onboard waste, water purification / effluent solutions.

As always at Quaynote conferences there will be top industry experts on hand to share their knowledge and moderate panel debates, also the program will feature plenty of opportunities for business networking, with refreshments and lunch provided, champagne round-table sessions to debate specialist subjects, and evening cocktail parties.

On Saturday 30th April the 2nd Quaynote / YachtMedia Golf and Networking Day will take place at the world class Son Gual Golf Course on the outskirts of Palma. With the pleasant spring temperatures in Mallorca, this will be a perfect way to unwind, get some exercise and socialise in a relaxed environment.

As for last year the event will be presided over by local PGA Golf professional Peter Ledwidge, and will offer an 18 hole stableford competition with prizes for experienced golfers. There will also be a three hour tuition session for those with no previous experience who want to learn the basics of golf from a qualified teacher, and to enjoy a day out at the same great venue. Transport to and from the course will be provided in the package.
