Italian superyacht builder Sanlorenzo could be on the verge of winning a contact for the largest yacht that it has ever built. According to information received, talks are underway with an Asian client regarding a potential order for a superyacht in the 60m-68m (197ft-223ft) range to be delivered in 2018.
The owner is understood to have purchased the pre-owned SL106SE model that was built for the former Sanlorenzo in China and that he is looking to upgrade to a larger model. This superyacht was taken on by Simpson Marine when it was awarded the exclusive Asian distribution for Sanlorenzo in Asia from May this year.
Further to this, it has already been made known that Simpson Marine signed up an Asian owner for one of the five Sanlorenzo 460EXPs which the Italian builder has sold since the new model was launched at the Monaco Yacht Show.
As part of a complete change of its multi-brand yacht marketing business, in addition to winning the Sanlorenzo business, Simpson Marine also increased its involvement with the Beneteau Group with an extended deal for Monte Carlo Yachts/MCY in Asia and it also signed up Asian distribution rights for the US specialist sportsfisher/luxury yacht brand Viking.
