The USP Profile went live at the Monaco Yacht Show this week, with crew signing up to take advantage of this new approach to creating their resume. By incorporating digital technology the USP Profile goes beyond the traditional paper resume, allowing candidates to showcase their personality alongside their credentials.
Driven by recruitment specialists in yachting, the content of the USP Profile has been carefully considered to help crew and recruiters find the right placement in a rapidly growing and fastpaced recruitment market. Crew are guided through completing each element of the USP Profile, which includes a video presentation, photos, written introduction, role aspirations, professional history, education, skills ratings, personality presentation and references. Once complete, the profile can be shared via unique URL, or downloadable PDF, in a structure which is easy for recruiters to navigate and compare.
“Personality is crucial when evaluating a candidate for a for front end position, working with guests and fellow crew however, having the x-factor just does not stand out on paper,” explains founder of the USP Profile, Jens Oomes. “Our vision is to establish the USP Profile as an industry standard resume format for crew to tell recruiters who they are, not just
what they are.”
Chief Stewardess, Louise Homewood believes the USP Profile will result in more successful crew placements;
“This is a great way of getting an accurate profile of crew. So often because of personality clashes crew can be dismissed. I’m all for
it!”
