Azzam: the world’s largest superyacht still impresses

More than a decade after her delivery, Azzam remains one of the most iconic and technically advanced yachts ever built. Delivered by Lürssen Yachts on 22 October 2013, this 180-metre masterpiece is still the longest private yacht in the world, an engineering feat that continues to astonish the yachting industry.

With a top speed of over 30 knots, Azzam combines vast size with impressive performance—an unusual pairing at this scale. Her construction was nothing short of extraordinary: less than one year of engineering, followed by three years of construction, from the first steel cutting to completion.

Azzam’s elegant and streamlined exterior was designed by Mario Pedol of Nauta Yachts, while her interior, styled in a classic Empire theme, was created by French designer Christophe Leoni. The entire vision was led by Mubarak Saad al Ahbabi, who served as principal designer and creative director of the project.

Built by Lürssen, a family-run shipyard in northern Germany with a global reputation for exclusive, custom-built superyachts, Azzam represents the pinnacle of large yacht engineering and luxury design.

Over ten years on, she remains a benchmark for size, style, and performance in the world of superyachting.
