With the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show began the Caribbean yachting season, an eagerly anticipated period within the international yachting community. One of the winter season’s most celebrated yachting events, the Antigua Charter Yacht Show will next month welcome industry professionals and charter vessels from all over the world as part of the biggest yacht charter show in the Caribbean region. For charterers, it will offer an alluring stop on a Leeward Islands yacht charter, as many of the region’s finest vessels converge at the event.
The 55th annual Antigua Charter Yacht Show takes place from 4th-10th December 2016 and offers an unmissable opportunity for industry professionals to view more than 110 luxury yachts on the picturesque and exotic island. The show will take place at the Nelson’s Dockyard Marina in English Harbour, as well as the Falmouth Harbour Marina and the Antigua Yacht Club Marina in Falmouth Harbour. Visitors can view yachts from 5th December between 9:30am and 5:30pm daily, with a shuttle service running between the three marinas during these hours.
The weeklong charter show is exclusively a trade-only event that displays world class charter yachts. With the primary purpose of showcasing the most appealing Caribbean charter opportunities to brokers from around the world, the event is crucial to the global yachting industry; it enables charter brokers to inspect the yachts at the start of the winter season in order to best advise their clients and recommend various yachts.
Among the 300 or so yacht brokerages attending the event will be Y.CO, the challenger brand of the global superyacht industry. The brokerage has recently announced which yachts will be in attendance in Antigua: S/Y VERTIGO, M/Y ELIXIR, M/Y MISCHIEF, M/Y PIONEER, M/Y OCTOPUSSY, S/Y STATE OF GRACE, M/Y RH3, M/Y NARVALO, and S/Y MUZUNI.
S/Y VERTIGO is the largest sailing yacht to ever be built in the Southern Hemisphere. The 67.2m superyacht is a pioneering vessel that provides the ultimate in comfort, with her spacious design and innovative styling. She accommodates up to 12 guests and boasts a range of features, including a 10-person Jacuzzi, retractable sunpads, glass screens for sun and wind protection, and an onboard gym that offers direct access to the sea.
Built by Amels in 2016, the 55.0m M/Y ELIXIR is sure to attract a great deal of attention at the Antigua Charter Yacht Show, in part due to her stunning and modern interior, but also due to her special features, which include a vast sundeck, fold-down balconies in the Master stateroom and main salon, an oversized Jacuzzi and a sky lounge cinema.
M/Y MISCHIEF is a recent addition to the Y.CO charter fleet. The 54.0m Baglietto superyacht is an alluring choice for Caribbean charters, having undergone a full refit in 2016. Accommodating up to 12 guests in six spacious staterooms, and with a range of watertoys and accessories, she is a versatile and luxurious superyacht.
Built with exploration in mind, the 46.0m M/Y PIONEER is a fantastic charter choice for extended cruises in the Caribbean region and beyond. With a range of 8,000 nautical miles and an indulgent interior, she combines a go-anywhere attitude with ultimate luxuriousness.
M/Y OCTOPUSSY is a sight to behold, with sleek exterior styling that sets her apart from competition. Heesen built the 43.59m superyacht in 1988, but a refit in 2015 brought the vessel to as-new condition. With a top speed of 32.0 knots and a shallow draft, M/Y OCTOPUSSY is the perfect superyacht on which to explore the hidden bays of the various islands in the Caribbean region.
The Perini Navi-built S/Y STATE OF GRACE is an elegant 39.40m superyacht with a focus on performance. The expansive Master stateroom offers a private gym and a hammam, while the superyacht’s selection of watertoys will appeal to all members of the family.
With a distinctive dual tone exterior and contemporary, stylish interiors, M/Y RH3 offers a unique charter experience. The versatile yacht is designed for world cruising and underwent an extensive rebuild in 2016.
Launched in 2016, M/Y NARVALO is the flagship of the Cantiere Delle Marche shipyard. With a range of 5,000nm, and luxurious and comfortable interiors, the 33.40m superyacht has excellent oceangoing capabilities.
S/Y MUZUNI is perfectly designed for both adventurous racing and tranquil sailing charters. The 30.30m yacht was built by Nautor’s Swan in 2005 and accommodates six guests in three staterooms.
Over 200 non-exhibiting vendors will also attend the Antigua Charter Yacht Show 2016, along with the international yachting press and marine and service companies. Yachting professionals can watch a number of scheduled contests and award ceremonies including the popular Chef’s Culinary Contest.
The Chef’s Culinary Contest is a vital component of the show as it allows charter yacht chefs to showcase their culinary skills and creativity. Every year, there is a different theme for the contest: last year’s participants were challenged to create a traditional Christmas luncheon with a Caribbean twist.
This yacht show offers something for everyone in the yachting industry, for charter professionals the Antigua Charter Yacht Show is unmissable.
