Quantum’s pioneering Remote Access system

Quantum’s pioneering Remote Access system is leading the way as the essential onboard yacht technology

Quantum’s innovative Remote Access technology is now one of the most vital and progressive tech systems onboard modern-day yachts.

Remote Access enables onboard yacht engineers to receive remote service and support from Quantum engineers on their marine stabilizers. This is performed through a highly secured, dedicated server, eliminating long-distance travel expenses and extended wait times for the arrival of a service tech.

Amid travel restrictions, Quantum recognised that Remote Access was a necessary option for many yacht owners, saving them both time and money.

John Allen, Quantum president and CEO, said: “Quantum has offered Remote Access for years, but the pandemic made it more of a necessity. Now that many travel and border restrictions have lifted, our clients still appreciate the prompt solution and convenience that Remote Access offers.”

Remote Access starts with a crew member contacting Quantum and alerting them that they are connected and ready for Remote Access. Quantum engineer dials into their system using a secured server and provides immediate assistance. As an added security precaution, the internet modules are independently registered with the licensing fees paid by Quantum. Though the decision to conduct a Remote Access session lies with the onboard engineer or crew member, some yachts choose to stay connected all of the time.

There is a multitude of benefits to Remote Access, including overall advantages to the owner, crew and onboard passengers. Not only is the time to troubleshoot and resolve an issue significantly reduced, but the cost savings are significant when compared to flying a service tech across the world, with related expenses over the course of multiple days.

Allen added: “Not only are technicians able to resolve marine stabilizer maintenance issues from afar, but yacht engineers boast some of the most advanced knowledge in the business and can assist with servicing everything from parts and components, pressure filters, oil conditions, suppressors, return filters and hydraulic systems to ensure all aspects of the vessel are operating correctly.”
