Marina Ibiza hosts the 6th APD Crossing Regatta for yet another year, and is ranked in second place.

For yet another year Marina Ibiza acted as host of the 6th APD Crossing Regatta from Mallorca to Ibiza, welcoming all the participants as they arrived in Ibiza.

The Marina Ibiza boat took second place in the ranking, both in real time and in corrected time.

In addition, Marina Ibiza was awarded third prize in the regatta for being the “Best Technological Boat” due to its communication on social media.

For yet another year, Marina Ibiza acted as host of the 6th APD Crossing Regatta and was also a participant with its own vessel.

In this sixth edition of the regatta, the marina received the 11 boats whose crews, upon arrival, were able to enjoy a courtesy cocktail at the Restaurante Calma and a full breakfast on the following morning before the prizegiving ceremony. Marina Ibiza was also awarded the trophy for second place in the general ranking, as well as the prize for best technological vessel.

As is customary by now, the regatta began off the coast of Mallorca at around eleven in the morning, with the boats setting sail for Ibiza, where the finish line was located, opposite the island of Tagomago. A voyage of 49.2 nautical miles which the Marina Ibiza vessel had completed at 17:37 hours, after an intense crossing during which the boat sailed at a speed of between 7 and 10 knots.

The Marina Ibiza regatta team, who took part with a DK 46, ended up being ranked in second place in the regatta, in both real time and corrected time, beaten only by the Varadero Valencia Aquarelle Sailing Team boat. On a day in which the prevailing wind of 6 to 17 knots was not especially favourable, for the marina’s vessel the regatta ended after six and a half hours’ sailing.

The final standings of the regatta were:

  1. Varadero Valencia Aquarelle Sailing Team – CW 44
  2. Marina Ibiza – DK 46
  3. Atlant del Vent – IMX 45

On their arrival at Marina Ibiza, the crews were invited to the courtesy cocktail which the marina organises every year on the terrace of the Restaurante Calma, lasting until after midnight, in what was an evening full of laughter and anecdotes where those involved enjoyed a fantastic sunset against the backdrop of Dalt Vila, Ibiza’s old town.

On the following morning, all the teams gathered once again on the terrace of the Calma to regain strength with a delicious breakfast, followed by the prizegiving ceremony, during which Marina Ibiza not only bagged second place in the crossing regatta, but was also awarded the prize for “Best Technological Boat”, due to its communication on social media throughout the day of the race. The marina took the opportunity to send its sincere congratulations to Varadero Valencia Aquarelle Sailing Team for their victory, and eagerly awaits the next APD Crossing Regatta, which has become a regular race among friends.
