The Maritime Skills Academy, in Dover, UK, has become one of the two first marine training centres to be recognised by the Merchant Navy Training Board’s (MNTB) new centre recognition scheme.
The MNTB scheme recognises quality training centres in the UK and abroad awarding them with an MNTB kitemark. This allows the MSA to use the kitemark to demonstrate that we have met the MNTB’s strict review criteria and differentiate ourselves from our competitors.
All of us at the MSA are extremely happy to be recognised as a training provider that meets the MNTB’s criteria of such a high standard.
The Maritime Skills Academy will formally receive MNTB recognition at the UK Chamber of Shipping’s annual Summer Lunch on 20th June.
The MNTB is an independent body supported by all aspects of the industry, including employers; unions, education centres, training providers and the Maritime & Coastguard Agency (MCA).
The MNTB has a national and international reputation for assuring quality cadet training programmes supported by training record books and course criteria for the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW). Its existing course recognition service has been available to maritime colleges and training providers in the UK, Ireland and the Philippines for the past couple of years.
