Italy’s Overmarine Group has launched the first Mangusta Oceano 42. The 42m motoryacht touched water on Saturday June 4 at the company’s new yard in Pisa. The yacht is the first in Overmarine’s Long Range series. The group announced the sale of this project in November 2014.

Commenting on the operation, Maurizio Balducci, the group’s CEO, says: “This is the company’s very first three deck displacement ship. She is also the first to be built in metal, and the first to be constructed here at our Pisa shipyard.”

The project came to fruition following Overmarine’s significant investments in infrastructures. New facilities of 22,000sq m, of which 9000sqm are covered, were built at the Darsena Pisana (Pisa wet dock) not to mention human resources and time.

The Mangusta Oceano 42 is a vessel designed by Alberto Mancini featuring modern and elegant lines combined with softer sections.

Her design flanks the traditional one of Mangusta open yachts, which will still be built in Viareggio.

This Mangusta Oceano 42 will be presented at the upcoming autumn boat shows. The Italian shipyard recently announced that hull #2 is currently under construction and due for completion next year.

Overmarine Group was founded in 1985 by the Balducci family, who are still at the head of the company. It builds fast maxi open yachts bearing the well-known Mangusta brand name, and luxury displacement yachts under the Mangusta GranSport and Mangusta Oceano brands, as well as Effebi branded peacekeeping and coastguard ships.

The company’s current portfolio ranges from 21.9m to 65m motoryachts bearing the Mangusta brand. The latest project sold is hull #12 of Mangusta 165, a 50m semi-custom vessel.

The Overmarine Group operates 10 production facilities in Tuscany, in the areas of Viareggio, Massarosa, Massa and Pisa, totaling around 190,000sq m of indoor and outdoor space.

It also has two wharfs in the port of Viareggio, equipped for the final preparation of the yachts, layover and the after sales service.

All processes are carried out within the group’s companies, from designing and making moulds, to moulding, lamination in composite materials, cutting the steel through to fitting the interiors, including the electronics and onboard systems. The group also has its own in-house Design Dept.

The company also has branch offices in Miami and Golfe Juan in France’s Côte d’Azur as well as a network of dealers strategically placed around the world.
