Heesen Yachts has announced the sale of Project Nova (Y/N 17850). The client, a yacht connoisseur, was introduced to the shipyard by Thom Conboy of Heesen Yachts USA.

Project Nova is a 50m yacht and displaces 315 tonnes with a gross tonnage of 499. The vessel, known for her reduced environmental impact, is wrapped in a design package with exterior lines by Frank Laupman of Omega Architects and interior styling by Sinot Yacht Design.

Heesen says her superstructure, vertical bow and fixed aft platform, put Project Nova a cut above the rest. While breaking with Heesen yachts of the past, her exterior lines still retain the sense of seaworthiness and performance that has become the trademark of the Dutch superyacht builder.

Project Nova’s hybrid propulsion comprises a diesel mechanical and diesel electrical package. Either or both sources can be used at the same time to provide more flexible power management and better efficiency along with less noise and vibration. “Up to speeds of 9 knots in electrical hybrid mode, the yacht will be as silent as when at anchor,” Heesen claims.
