The UK boatyard has parted ways with Ancasta and is now being run by a team of investors

The UK’s Hamble Yacht Services has parted ways with its parent company, the Ancasta Group, to become an independent business. The Solent boatyard is now owned by a team of four investors.

Director Robert Bicket, who has a strong background in marine business ownership and management, says: “Hamble Yacht Services is an historic site which has long been one of the premier centres for boat movements, storage and berthing in the Solent area. It is also a hub for a full range of onsite services that provide turnkey support for the vessels that we have here.

“We are very excited about our future,” he adds. “There are a number of immediate planned improvements and many more in the pipeline which will benefit both our bertholders and tenants, as well as the sensitive river bank environment that the facility sits on the edge of.”

The new management will start by improving the general fabric of the yard, which sits on its own land upriver from Port Hamble Marina. There is a programme of refurbishment for the main buildings, says the company, while general access and car parking around the site will also be improved.

Hamble Yacht Services’ Repair & Refit and Advanced Rigging & Hydraulics businesses will remain in the ownership of the Ancasta Group and have been re-named Hamble Yacht Services Refit and Repair Ltd (HYSRR).

Going forward, HYSRR will continue to provide its refit & repair and engineering services out of their recently redeveloped facilities within Hamble Yacht Services.
