Italian company, Palumbo Group, have been in the marine industry for over half a century. Predominantly operating in repair, construction, modification, conversion and maintenance, Palumbo are spread over five different shipyards with a total of 14 docks in Naples, Messina, Malta and Marseille.
The company recently attended the METS 2014, where they announced the opening of new facilities in their Maltese location: a leisure Yacht Club and a brand new gym.
The fully equipped gym offers equipment such as cyclettes; cross trainers; treadmills; chest benches with barbell and free weights; a flat bench and a dumbbell handle shelf. The new facilities, which also include indoor activities such as ping pong and a football table, aim to allow the crews of yachts being refitted to enjoy the period in which the vessel is in the yard. The Maltese yard is also in the process of completing the restructuring of a new building to be used as accommodation for crews during long refit periods.
In celebration of the new area, the Palumbo family held an Italian Crew Party for the crews of several of the yachts currently in the yard.
