The Largest Modern Sailing Yachts

In the world of luxury and more specifically yachts, size is a factor that does matter. Often it is the case that the bigger the yacht, the more living space there is, the more features there are and therefore the more luxurious the experience is. This would count for little however if those living spaces were not modern and comfortable. Spending a lot of time at sea, means spending a lot of time on a yacht, so it is imperative that the living standards aboard are the finest they can be.

Our featured yacht is the world’s largest luxury sailing yacht charter option available that was launched after 2010. Winner at the International Yacht & Aviation Awards 2013 and known locally as “The Big One”, superyacht Vertigo was launched in 2011 by Alloy Yachts after 29 months of intense labour. At 67.2m long, she is the New Zealand based shipbuilder’s largest product and also the largest luxury sailing yacht to be built in the Southern Hemisphere.

This ketch sail yacht effortlessly combines luxury and adventure with Phillippe Briand’s design capable of achieving high performance and smooth control despite its size, while world renowned interior designer Christian Liaigre matches this with modern ‘urban at sea’ theme interior living spaces and exterior entertaining areas. Capable of travelling at speeds of up to 20 knots, and with her natural palette of cream sails and walnut and black exterior, she cuts a powerful yet sleek figure in the azure waters of the Mediterranean, where she is available for charter. A 10-person Jacuzzi, private gymnasium and alfresco cinema ensure that Vertigo retains her modern appeal.

Vertigo is thus a contemporary yacht with a classic look, ideal for the refined waters of Sardinia. With plenty of room around the Italian island paradise, her 67.2m build is perfect for a yacht charter of the Amalfi Coast, Italy. A scintillating combination of calm winds and currents make for favourable conditions to navigate the surrounding sea and promote water sports all year round. The selection of water toys and on board yacht equipment from kayaks to diving wear and paddleboards to water-skis make for enchanting trips among the scattered islands of the Madelenas where dolphins frolic playfully.

Vertigo hosts up to twelve guests, one of which was his Highness Prince Albert of Monaco who, having personally enjoyed her delights, awarded her the prestigious Prix du Design. Across five sumptuous suites, guests and cabin crew share the living space making Vertigo one of the finest crewed yachts available for charter. The sophistication of her custom-built stainless steel interior and transparent super structure are matched only by the sophistication of her guests.
