The Admiral Sail Wave series was officially unveiled at the Monaco Yacht Show last month. Being developed with Philippe Briand Ltd., the series will include yachts ranging from 38 to 60 metres, all built in aluminium.
Entering the yacht market with the Silent 76, The Italian Sea Group has reported they felt it was the right time to move forward to constructing vessels well over 30 metres. The Group states, “In this way the shipyard can capitalise the huge know-how and experience in the aluminum construction also on sailing yachts. Of course we know this market to be a niche but we also know that the real players are not many and we do want to introduce something different, seen by a different perspective.”
Details of the 38 metre superyacht of the series have already been developed, with designer Philippe Briand presented with specific requirements from the Group. These requirements included building a sailing yacht that would be an ideal holiday platform for family and friends, as well as comfort, external deck spaces, a protected cockpit, aft deck terrace, performance, smart lines and fun to use.
Explaining the design further, Philippe Briand comments, “The key element lies in the naval architecture and structure of the hull. We have designed a beamier hull at midships and a wider section aft. This is the trend of the last successful generation of racing sailing yachts and those yachts have proven to be very efficient. The huge advantage given by this modern and fast shape is the volume and deck space created.”
The large volume inside resulted in a design with an extremely spacious owner’s stateroom aft, as well as space for two additional guest cabins and a multifunctional space for an office, salon or third guest cabin. Accommodation is also provided for up to four crew and the captain.
The cockpit is protected by a hard top, with a sliding bimini, and can be fully protected with retractable window panes, and actually becomes the formal dining area on deck at night. The large aft terrace is a notable feature, with a protected sunbathing platform with access to the sea that is also connected with the owner’s stateroom.
The yacht will be rigged with carbon mast and carbon furling boom with provision for autotacking jib, slightly overlapping foresail, staysail and downwind sail.
