Superyacht Australia organises trade mission to Asia

The peak body for Australia’s superyacht sector is taking a trade delegation to Kuala Lumpur, Langkawi and Phuket in January 2014

Superyacht Australia, the peak body for the country’s superyacht sector, is taking a trade delegation to Kuala Lumpur, Langkawi and Phuket in January next year to engage with the Asian superyacht and broader marine industry. The aim of the mission is to research opportunities for joint ventures, the sharing of facilities and to promote what Australia has to offer.

“Asia is becoming a growth destination for superyachts with many requiring repairs, routine maintenance and refits,” says Superyacht Australia in a statement. “Given the huge capability in Australia for servicing superyacht requirements and their global reputation it is critical for Australia to establish better links in Asia.”

The delegation will host a series of meetings, seminars and networking functions during the week of January 20, 2014. Confirmed participants include Carrie Carter, director of Carter Marine Agencies and chairperson of the Superyacht Group Great Barrier Reef, as well as Cameron Bray of Bray Management, Jamie MacPhail of Pantaenius Yacht Insurance, and Michael Donovan, director of Magnum Top Gear.

“Vessels departing Asia for the South Pacific or from the South Pacific destined for Asia are highly likely to call into Australia enroute for refuelling, reprovisioning, safe haven or repairs,” says Carrie Carter of Cairns-based Carter Marine Agencies. “As one of Australia’s leading yacht agents, maintaining a close network with Asia to ensure that vessels obtain continued support on their travels is extremely important.

“The opportunity to part take in this upcoming trade mission to Asia is essential for us to grow our network between these countries and strengthen our support services to a fast maturing superyacht industry,” she adds.

Superyacht Australia was established in 1999 to promote the Australian superyacht sector’s capabilities globally. The association is a division of AIMEX, the Australian International Marine Export Group.
