Russia considers visa-free yacht visits

The Transport Ministry wants to increase the number of “yacht tourists” visiting

According to local news services, Russia may pass a law that allows foreign yachts to visit the country without a visa for up to three days. The bill was posted on the government legislative commission’s website.

According to current rules, visiting yachts owners and crew need a visa and official invitation from an authorised body like a yacht club to visit Russian ports. Russia’s Transport Ministry said it wants to increase the number of “yacht tourists” visiting the country.

Currently, visitors on cruise ships can stay without a visa up to 72 hours, but they must stay overnight on the ship.
