Giancarlo Ragnetti the CEO of Perini Navi has been at the forefront of the Italian Sailing Super yacht industry since the 1970’s the decade in which Fabio Perini placed an order for what was to become the first of the Perini Navi sailing yachts.
Now Ragnetti has been rightly honoured by the International Superyacht Society (ISS) who have granted him the distinction of the ISS Leadership Award 2013.
Born in 1946, Giancarlo Ragnetti graduated from the University of Naples with a degree in Naval and Mechanical Engineering. He began his shipbuilding career in the commercial shipyards Ancona on Italy’s Eastern coastline.
Since the day he began working alongside Perini, he has held the full responsibility of creating and developing the Perini Navi team and the world leading brand, which has seen the firm build and launch a fleet of 55 yachts on the water- 53 sailing yachts and 2 motor yachts.
In 2007 Rangnetti oversaw the building motor yachts under the brand name of Picchiotti, thus re-launching the historic Picchiotti shipyard that Perini had acquired in the early 1990’s.
Accepting the award Giancarlo Ragnetti thanked everyone who helped him reach this important milestone in his 30 year long career saying, “I am here this evening after a long and wonderful voyage taken with you and above all with the whole extended Perini Navi family. I dedicate this award to them and feel that I share the merits with them.”
